It seems we’re always telling people that following Jesus is easy, he won’t get in the way of your busy life, he’ll always forgive you, just keep doing what you’re doing cuz he’ll always be waiting. Can you spare a minute of your time for Jesus? It won’t even affect your schedule. Or your life.
But Jesus never adapted to easy believism. He never said that the activities would be fun, church would be close enough, the sermons short enough, and all that he wants is just a minute of your time. Repeat this simple prayer and you’re good to go! Actually, he said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
Salvation is free, but it’s not cheap. When you find something of value, you sacrifice to get it. God demands more than just a minute of your time. He wants every day of your life. And if you can’t give him that, he wants none of it. If you think his lordship is worth that price, you’ll sacrifice everything to follow him.
How much is He worth? A minute?
