I was actually looking forward to the latest episode of How to Get Away with Murder, because during filming, the camera was right in front of me, and I was next to the main actor. But when I actually saw the show, the lens was so zoomed in, it only showed my right ear.
aw man.
and there are other parts where I’m so blurred out. It’s different from when I played Lane’s cousin in Gilmore Girls or yelled “Yeah boy!” as an Asian gangster in CSI Miami.
But that’s ok. because I’m not the star. I often tell people to be the hero of your own life-movie. Go serve! pursue your dream! Take a leap of faith and stop staying in the background! there’s a reason God created you, and not somebody else, so get involved. However, even I forget sometimes:
I’m not the star.
God says in Isa 48:11 that he cares about his glory and “I will not share my glory with another.” Everything is to point to God’s glory (1 Cor 10:31). The whole earth will be filled with His glory (Hab 2:14). God is the centerpiece of the story. it’s not about whether I reach my dreams or not. Life is not about what’s best for me – my kid, my family, my career. My own life-movie is not all about me.
But it doesn’t mean I’m just an ear in the background. I’m the object of His love. I’m in the story. I’m supporting cast.
But I’m not the hero.
it’s not up to me to save the world. Problems arise when we forget who the hero is. like my inconveniences should be at the top of his list. and when my troubles aren’t solved, I get upset. God’s not doing his job.
God’s job
is to be the hero of the story, the centerpeice, the one who wins in the end.
We all have a part to play, we’re in the last chapter,
before he begins a new story.
Let’s play our part well, but let’s not forget
who’s supposed to get the glory.
