Driver Prep

so you can focus on the road AND your conversation

Accessories You Need to Buy

Tips

Ear-Piece

Every Uber Driver needs a hands free ear piece. You don't want your navigation directions to interrupt your conversation. But you don't want to miss a turn. Keep those directions in your ear. Plus, when passengers call you, it's safer to keep your hands on the steering wheel.
I recommend the Planetronics Voyager.

3-in-1 Charging Cable (iPhone/And)

If you drive for Uber, your passengers sometimes need a charge, but some carry iPhones and others carry Androids. This one cable can do it all:

Portable Vacuum

Keep things clean with a portable vacuum cleaner. Uber and Lyft drivers should keep things clean. Most car-vacs are weak, so get my recommendation. It's the best:

Night Vision Sunglasses

After long hours on Uber or Lyft, if you're driving in a dark place or in the mountains at night, this makes it better to see. You are a pro level driver with one of these:

Vent Air Fresheners

If your A/C smells, it's your cabin filter. First, replace the cabin air filter in your car. Then place an air freshener in your vent:

Phone Holder for Car

Be a professional Uber driver. Don't put your phone on your lap. And stay away from magnetic holders that mess with your GPS. Get a secure clip. IT should have a quick release. I recommend this below:

Smartphone Charger

You can't keep your Lyft app or Uber app on for hours without a charge. You need a strong Smartphone charger (dual, 2.4 Amps each) like this one below:

(Baby) Wipes

I'm not saying Uber passengers are dirty. Sometimes, you need a wipe to clean stuff off your car, or that bird poop on your windshield. Extra Tip: Add some water into the pack on those hot days so it doesn't dry up in 2 weeks.

Dash Cam

Yes, Uber and Lyft have insurance for their drivers. Very limited. But every professional driver should have a dash-cam. It proves to insurance that you were not at fault.

Dash Cam (High Quality)

Only a few high-end dash cams can capture license plates at night. This has the highest quality lens but the cheapest of the high-end cameras. No other camera can catch hit-and-run drivers.

GoPro 7 (Optional, to record)

If you want to record your Uber or Lyft conversations like me, there's no better option than to GoPro:

GoPro microphone adapter

If you want audio on your GoPro you need an official GoPro audio adapter.

Short-cut menu on Phone

If you're switching between Uber and Lyft and Google Maps or Waze, you need to set up your phone for these short-cuts. You should be able to access them quickly without looking at your phone for 3 seconds.

Music

In conversation, I keep the music off. But on other times, or when the passenger doesn't want to talk, have music ready to go. Don't spend time looking for a station. Have it set up, or have your playlist ready.

Plastic Bags

God forbid somebody spills something or is about to throw up. Have a plastic bag ready just in case.

Get a Gas Card

Stick with a favorite gas station so you could reap the rewards as a consistent customer. Shell gas station has a deal for Lyft Drivers.
