Sometimes you’re asked, “So, how’s your walk with God?” It’s called a walk, not a run. not a climb. it’s not even a hike. A walk is one of the easiest things that we do. You don’t even break a sweat.
A walk. It’s one of the first things you learn to do, as a baby becomes a toddler. I used to think that God gets upset every time I fall. yeah, he forgives me, yeah he lifts me back up, but man, how frustrating. Now I know it’s not like that. It’s more like a Father raising a child.
Every step is a delight. Every stumble is another opportunity to hold your hand. The focus is never on how you fell. But it’s, “Wow, you took 4 whole steps!” Alright, let’s do 5 next time!
I think we get mad at ourselves more than God. We’re crying, slouched over the floor, “Dad, go on without me. This walking business is never gonna happen.” But the patient Father lifts you in his arms and puts you down only when you’re ready to walk again. Let’s try it again. Let’s go for another round.
It’s not a run. It’s not a climb. Take it step by step. by step. There will come a time to run, to climb, to fly.
But right now, let’s walk. let’s take it slow.
Take the Father’s hand, and let’s go.
